b/cited is an independent platform unaffiliated with any of these companies. Use of these names is descriptive and does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or partnership.
Data b/cited collects and how it is used
When you sign in with Google, you grant b/cited read-only access to your Google Search Console properties via the webmasters.readonly OAuth scope. b/cited uses that access to pull the queries your site ranks for, your impressions, your clicks, and your average positions over the last 90 days. The full list of data read is documented in the privacy policy.
Pro users who opt into the Google Sheets export feature additionally grant the drive.file scope. This is the most restrictive Drive scope Google offers — b/cited can only read or modify files it itself creates via the export button. b/cited never reads your other Drive files.
b/cited does not train AI models on your data, does not sell your data, and does not share your data with third parties except as required to render the product — specifically:
- Your queries are embedded by OpenAI's
text-embedding-3-smallmodel via Cloudflare AI Gateway to power topical clustering. The embedding text is the query string itself. - Your tracked AEO prompts are sent to OpenAI (
gpt-4.1-mini), Anthropic (claude-sonnet-4-6), and Perplexity (sonar) when you click Run Now or when the daily cron runs them. The prompt payload does not include your account email, project name, or any PII. - Your brief-generation requests are sent to OpenAI's
gpt-4.1-minivia AI Gateway, including the cluster's query list and (if available) the URLs already ranking for those queries.
All AI provider calls go through Cloudflare AI Gateway, which adds caching, retries, and per-prompt analytics. Cached responses are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure for 24 hours by default.
Performance limitations
b/cited's AEO citation tracker reports what AI engines returned at the time of each run. Results vary day to day, prompt to prompt, and engine to engine. b/cited does not guarantee that any tactic, page change, or schedule will produce a specific increase in citations, mentions, or organic search performance. The product surfaces signal; the editorial work to act on that signal is yours.
Authority scores, ownership statuses, and quick-win recommendations are derived from Google Search Console data and b/cited's own scoring heuristics. They are estimates, not predictions. Google's own ranking algorithm is the source of truth; this scoring is a useful lens, not a replacement.
Third-party services
b/cited depends on the following third parties to operate. Outages or policy changes by any of them can affect product functionality:
- Cloudflare — Workers, D1, Vectorize, KV, R2, AI Gateway, Email Sending. The entire data plane.
- Google — OAuth provider, Search Console data source, Sheets export target.
- OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity — AI providers for embeddings, brief generation, and AEO citation tracking.
- Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. b/cited never sees or stores your card number.
Affiliate disclosure
b/cited does not currently participate in any affiliate programs and earns no commissions when you sign up for any of the third-party services mentioned in its content. If this ever changes, this page will be updated and affiliate links disclosed inline.
